Even more noteworthy about the manufacturing sector is the world-class employers that choose to make Oakville their home base. Those employers include Ford, Hatch Engineering, AMEC Americas and SNC Lavalin-Nuclear.

The second sector that is responsible for economic development in Oakville is digital media and animation. In addition to those working in the industry, Oakville is home to the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.

The third economic pillar is life sciences. Obviously, with McMaster University Medical Center situated in Oakville it makes sense that careers in research and medicine give work to 170,000 residents of Oakville.

The last portion of the economy is professional services.
