Oakville has many million dollar homes and it’s one of the most affluent towns in the whole of Canada. From the shores of Lake Ontario where you’ll find huge estate lots with sprawling mansions on them, to the popular family neighbourhoods in the north of the town, there are million dollar homes in almost all of Oakville’s neighbourhoods.

Exclusive Neighbourhoods

Oakville certainly has its share of exclusive neighbourhoods where almost all of the homes are worth over a million dollars. Morrison is said to be the most sought after part of the city where you’ll rarely find an updated home for less than a million, and if you live in this neighbourhood on a lakeside lot you can add several million to your asking price. Lots are in high demand here, especially with families looking to build a custom home.

Olde Oakville also has many multi-million dollar homes. There’s an exclusive enclave of town homes here for example, that are set right on the lake, and each of these goes for well over a million dollars. You can buy beautiful historic homes and detached luxury homes here too. Olde Oakville is the original part of the town and it has a lovely heritage feel to many of the streets. There are estate lots here too, which are set on some of Oakville’s most prestigious streets.

Around downtown and Central Oakville there are detached homes and town homes too, but you can add luxurious lake view apartments into the mix as well, and yes, these do cost in excess of one million dollars! People living here choose to spend a premium so that they can enjoy the lifestyle. Apartment living isn't for everyone, but if you’re looking for a carefree lifestyle with no outside space and external maintenance to have to worry about, these homes are a great alternative. The fact that they’re within walking distance to the lake, as well as to the shops, and the restaurants of downtown Oakville is a huge bonus too.

Family Focused Neighbourhoods

While Oakville does have a number of exclusive neighbourhoods you don’t have to look just in these places to find million dollar homes. As mentioned above, Oakville is one of the most affluent towns in the country but this means it’s also one of the most expensive. Buying a home in a family focused neighbourhood can set you back well over a million too. The newer streets of Joshua Creek for example, which is right near the northern edge of the town boundary, feature upscale townhouses and detached homes, and there are even condos and apartments in this community too, though it’s mainly the detached homes that sell for over a million dollars.

River Oaks is a similar story to Joshua Creek, while Glen Abbey has some slightly older housing. In this neighbourhood there are many homes along the banks of Sixteen Mile Creek, and those built right by the famous golf course sell for into the millions as well.
